Metabolic and Respiratory physiology

The Metabolic and Respiratory physiology laboratory at Patanjali Research Foundation focuses primarily on yoga practices and metabolic and respiratory variables using different equipment’s:

Pulmonary function testing equipment (Quark CPET COSMED, Italy) to measure exercise testing and spirometry (forced vital capacity, lung volume, lung diffusing capacity (DLCO), respiratory mechanics, oximetry, airway resistance measurement test).
Schiller (Truscope II Multiparameter monitor, Guangdong Biolight Meditech, China) to measure physiological parameters: ECG, RESP, SpO2, NIBP, IBP, TEMP, CO2.
A 2 channel Biopac MP 45 data acquisition system (BIOPAC Systems Inc., USA) to measure breath characteristics (i.e. rate, depth and breath phase duration of breathing).

A subject fitted with a mask and connected to an open circuit metabolic analyzer (Quark CPET COSMED, Italy).

A subject fitted with specially designed canopy and connected to an open circuit metabolic analyzer (Quark CPET COSMED, Italy) to study oxygen consumption during pranayamas.

A subject connected to portable MP45 two channel polygraph and is being assessed for heart rate variability and respiration.
